Air Europa connects Madrid with the Brazilian city Recife

Air Europa will inaugurate its new Madrid-Recife route in December, becoming the only airline to offer a direct connection between Madrid and the oldest capital of Brazil.

The new route was presented this morning in Madrid by the governor of Pernambuco, Paulo Câmara, and the managing director of Globalia, Javier Hidalgo. This route will start to operate on 20 December with two flights a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays. A third flight is expected in the future.

This strategy of growth and consolidation in the northeast of Brazil -it already flies to Salvador de Bahía since 2003- offers over 62,000 seats a year, and we expect to complete over 200 flights a year with an average occupation rate of 90%.

An Airbus 330-200 will cover this route and, as a result, Air Europa will open a new door for European tourism in Brazil through its hub in Madrid, from which Air Europa offers excellent connections with more than 30 national and European destinations.

The new flights to the capital of Pernambuco bolster the airline’s presence in the Brazilian country, where in addition to Salvador de Bahia we also operate a daily flight to Sao Paulo since November 2013. In addition, Air Europa has reached a code-sharing agreement with Avianca Brasil by means of which it shares its code in several weekly domestic flights and works towards encouraging connectivity between Recife and other points in the country. The aim of this effort is to broaden its international offer and improve the air connectivity in Brazil.

The presentation was also attended by the secretary of Tourism, Sports and Leisure and the secretary of the Civil Cabinet of Pernambuco, Felipe Carreras and Antonio Figueira, respectively, as well as the chairman of the company Turismo de Pernambuco, Adailton Feitosa, and the secretary of Tourism, Sports and Leisure of Recife, Ana Paula Vilaça. This presentation took place following the meetings held last month in Brazil between the managing director of Globalia and the authorities, with the purpose of communicating Air Europa’s intention to bolster its presence in the country and contribute to reinforcing its potential for tourism.

By adding Recife, Air Europa now flies to a total of 20 destinations in the American continent, and continues to strengthen its position as the best flight option between America and Europe.

About Pernambuco

Pernambuco is a universe of possibilities. Much closer than we think, the heart of northeast Brazil is noted for its culture, gastronomy, natural beauty and hospitality.

Pernambuco has one of the most vibrant, rich and diverse cultures in Brazil, which reflects the history, creativity and essence of its people. Its African, Amerindian, Judaic and Dutch influences provide the state a unique culture.Recife, Pernambuco, Brasil beaches

With its 482 years of history, Recife is the oldest capital of Brazil. The city is known for its rivers, bridges, monuments and people’s hospitality. In addition to Recife, there are other destinations in this state worth visiting, such as Olinda, which is Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO, 1982) and famous for the diverse rhythms and giant dolls of its Carnival; Porto de Galinhas, which is renowned for having the broadest network of resorts and hotels along the shore of Latin America; and Fernando de Noronha, a World Heritage site and boasting the most beautiful beach in the world according to TripAdvisor’s ratings.pernambuco, recife, vuelos a recife
