Awards, collaboration and guests at Fitur 2018

On 17 February, the Ifema pavilion in Madrid hosted the International Tourism Trade Fair once again, known around the world as           Fitur. Naturally, Air Europa attended this annual event with its own stand, where our intention was to bring both those in the tourism industry and the general public closer to the popular Dreamliner effect, along with a host of other events.

One of the main events was receiving the   Responsible Tourism Awardfrom the InterMundial  Foundation, in collaboration with Fitur and the Instituto Tecnológico Hotelero. The award was presented in the Transport category, for the efforts and investments made to reduce CO2 emissions.         The jury valued our firm commitment to the new  Boeing 787 Dreamliner model, which consumes 20% less fuel and is a benchmark in responsible tourism.

Another announcement made during Fitur 2018 was the collaboration agreement between Sony, Globalia and the UNWTO to boost the promotion of destinations and help to position them on the global tourism map.

This new promotion format consists in showcasing a destination via a music video by an artist signed with Sony Music, coinciding with new releases.

As well as boosting tourism, both the UNWTO and the record label have agreed to use local talent for future promotional campaigns. This will allow tourism to work as a channel for professionalisation in specialty fields, such as the audiovisual sector, logistics, or the promotion of sustainable tourism between consumers.

The first promotional activity took place in Ecuador, where they filmed the new Nicky Jam and Wisin music video; in just five months, the video has more than 175 million views on YouTube.

Elsewhere, we had the pleasure of receiving Jorge Lorenzo at our stand, accompanied by the chairman of  Globalia, Juan José Hidalgo. The Moto GP driver tested the comfort of the Dreamliner fleet’s seats, and pointed out that his favourite Dreamliner effect was the speed.    On that note, this aeroplane, which has been specially designed for long-haul routes, can reduce the flight time by 40 minutes.

Another special visit to our stand at Fitur came from two players from Atlético de Madrid, Lucas Hernández and goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moyá, as well as Real Madrid player Theo Hernández, who sampled the ‘magic’ of the new windows on the Dreamliner planes. These windows allow the passenger to control the level of brightness and enjoy the wonderful views, thanks to their 30% increase in size.
