Many people ignore that Miami, the most entertainment city in USA, it is also a cultural destination. The city has become main tourist destination especially among the Spanish and Latin American people. Even though Miami still an unknown destination, let’s learn more about it.

  1. Miami has the biggest concentration of Art-Deco buildings around the world. There are 1,200 building, along with stand out the Avalon (1941), the Carlyle (1941), the Colony (1935), the Edison (1935), the Clevelander (1938), and the Cardozo building (1939).
  2. Miami metropolitan has a population over 5.2 million people. This figure makes the city being the seventh most populous city in USA, but the smallest –regarding the area- of the ten largest city in the country.
  3. 69% of the people living in Miami is Latino and speaks Spanish.
  4. Miami has 500 churches on 32 different faith.
  5. Miami Beach has an extension of 21.7 miles from South Beach to Sunny Isles.
  6. The Freedom Tower is a modern reinterpretation of the famous Giralda Tower.
  7. In 2008, Miami was declared the cleanest city in the US by Forbes magazine, regarding the high quality of its air, its recycling program and its green area.
  8. Metromover, the curious public transport system in Miami, is pretty unique in the country. This light and electrical monorail is free and the best way to get around downtown on a warm day.
  9. Bayside Market Place is the largest mall in the city. It has 140 stores, most of them outdoors.
  10. Miami is the home of the NFL Miami Dolphins, NBA Miami Heat, NHL Florida Panthers, and MLB Florida Marlins.
  11. Miami is also a cultural destination. It host the Miami Beach Art Basel, one of the most important and biggest art exhibits in the World. If you are visiting Miami make sure you spend some time enjoying the Fine Arts Museum and Modern Art Museum, both inside the Dade Center.
  12. Miami was founded by Julia Tuttle in 1896. Before being named Miami, the area was called Biscayne Bay and was inhabited by different indigenous tribes.
  13. One of the most popular neighborhood in Miami, Coral Gables, is inspired in Venice (Italy).
  14. Miami is one of the most chosen vacations destination for Hollywood celebrities. Julio Iglesias, Alejandro Sanz, Gloria Estefan, Paulina Rubio, Jennifer López, Ricky Martin, among other own a house in Miami.
  15. Air Europa flies to Miami from Madrid Barajas Airport trice a week, beginning in June 4th.
